Насколько я знаю, моя прабабушка Роза была замужем за моим прадедом Моисеем Исааковичем Балясным, от этого брака родились две девочки (Ревекка - моя бабушка 1910 г.р. и ее сестра Анна 1913 г.р.) Когда девочки были маленькие (год не знаю), Роза умерла от тифа. Тогда Моисей женился во второй раз на сестре Розы Зине, в этом браке родилась еще одна девочка, которую назвали Роза. Я когда буду в Москве обязательно сосканирую фотографии и пришлю.
У Ани и Розы детей не было, единственным ребенком у троих сестер была моя мама у Ривы. Мама родилась в 1947 году когда Риве было уже 37 лет. Аня была замужем, но детей не было, а Роза замужем никогда не была. Так что я была единственной обожаемой внучкой! Мои самые светлые детские воспоминания связаны именно с ними. Аня и Роза жили в Ленинграде, а моя бабушка Рива перебралась в Москву. Паша, я потом еще с мамой уточню кое-какие детали, она хоть и ненамного, но побольше меня знает историю. Бабушка Рива училась в Ленинграде, потом она уже по-моему с мужем переехала в Москву. Мою маму воспитывала бабушка Беба, сестра Розы и Зины. Мой дедушка, мамин папа, Леонид Цитрон умер совсем молодым (37 лет), когда маме было только два годика, он страдал открытой формой туберкулеза, он вышел на улицу попить газированной воды и у него пошла горлом кровь, а прохожие думали, что пьяный лежит... Дедушка тоже с Украины, уточню из какого города, но если не ошибаюсь, то как и бабушка Рива из Мелитополя. Своих родных с папиной стороны мама никогда не знала, бабушка Рива почему-то всегда скрывала от нее все. Интересно, что некий Цитрон из Мелитополя основал автоконцерн Ситроен...
Первой из трех сестер умерла самая младшая Роза в 87 году, причем 10 апреля, а это день рождения бабушки Ривы. Ровно через год, в 88 году - Рива, а еще через год Аня.

give you as much information as I have, and I have a picture of my Great
Grandparents if you would like me to email you a copy.
Here is what I know and it is very little. My Grandfather died very young,
so my Mother and her three brothers do not know to much.
My Great Grandfather's name was Nochum Schusterovics, the spelling could
have been very different. He was born in Nevel, the paper work says - "Son
of Halin Idels". There were a number of children, My Grandfather Samuel and
his twin Rosa they were born about 1875. There was a sister named Hane
(Anna), Brother Saima and another brother named Herman.
My Mother, my Uncle Lester, Herman's son Ilya and daughter Cily are in their
90's and do not know, or can't remember or in the case of Ilya can't be
bothered to remember as I have been hounding ever one to tell me what they
can. I have a document that is written in Lithuanian (I think) that I have
not been able to get translated that appears to be Hane's birth certificate
or attesting to her birth more likely. I believe that Samuel and Hane were
born in Libau. Hane ended up living in London and my grandfather went to
China, where he died in approximately 1923 in Harbin. Part of the time they
were in Shanghai where my Mother was born. It is my understand that Saima's
son when back to Russia, his name was Ilusha.
My Grandfather's twin Rosa, immigrated to Israel in the late 1930's from
Prague. Her daughter Thea recently passed away in Hafai. She told me that
her Mother talked about taking the train from St. Petersburg to China to
visit the family right after the Russian Revolution.
Where do you and your wife live? We live in Santa Fe, New Mexico 6 months of
the year and in Tucson, Arizona the other six months. We will be leaving
for Tanzania on July 12 thru August 3rd for a family trip to celebrate my
husband's birthday. I am assuming you were born in Russia or one of the
Eastern European countries based on the Russian letters I saw on the cc's of
this email.

My name is Linda Packe (nee Fixman) and I am writing on behalf of my father Sydney Fixman as well as myself and all of our family in England. It was by some miracle that I came across your family tree on the internet.
Let me introduce ourselves. My father is the son of Aaron Lazarus Fixman and Ella Laddin who as you correctly have found out became a naturalised British Citizen in 1921. Aaron Lazarus is the son of Leib Fixman and brother of Gershon. My father was born in Manchester in 1932 and is known by his family as ‘Motty’. My father’s brother was called Jack ’Jankel’ who passed away in November 2001. My father moved to London in 1952 where we have always lived. He married my mother Pamela Berg who sadly died in 2002.
My grandfather Lazer also had four sisters who emigrated to this country at the same time as well as his father Leib (also known as Louis). I will give you details of the sisters at a later time. The only thing you should know is that their names do not correspond to the names given on your tree. However, I would like to mention one of the sisters Annie, as her son Bernard Poston (my father’s 1st cousin) is also very excited about this discovery. I may add that Leib’s wife was called Leah.
My grandfather, Lazer, had up to the beginning of the Second World War been in continuous correspondence with his brother Gershon in Leningrad who was referred to by my family as Herzl. However, this correspondence obviously came to an end and they heard nothing more from them. At the end of the war, the family were in contact with the Red Cross to try and to locate Gershon and his children but were told they had all must have died. At this time my grandfather was very ill and so this must have hampered any further investigations.
My father and I have long since held the view that someone must have survived and over the years we have done some tentative research but there has been some confusion over the spelling of the name ‘Fixman’, indeed on your family tree many our called ‘Fiksman’. Also all our correspondence has been lost for many years and the only clues we have were some old photo’s which leads to me on to explain how I came across your tree.
About two weeks ago my son decided for fun to look up my brother’s photo on Facebook. As he was scrolling through the images of Fixman on the internet explorer I noticed a photo of Liza Fiksman. Not expecting anything because of the spelling I clicked on the image and scrolled down the page and to my absolute amazement the picture of Gershon with his sons and sons-in-law miraculously appeared. We have a copy of this photo amongst a few others. I can not describe the feeling I had or indeed the absolutely excitement in telling, first my father and since the whole family.
I have since scanned through your pages and sources and realise that much of the family did survive and that close relatives are still alive today all over the world. It is quite unbelievable and we are so excited to make contact with them and you.
I also realise that we are not related. It is in fact your wife who has the connection to the Fixman family but this is where it gets a bit confusing. My father has no recollection of his father having a sister (Sara) that remained in Russia (or Latvia). His correspondence was solely with Gershon and as a child he cannot remember her ever being mentioned. However I have seen the picture of Sara with her niece (Vera) and her son and grandchild and so we assume that indeed Sara must have been my father’s aunt which makes your wife’s grandmother my father’s first cousin – truly amazing.
We would very much like to make contact with the family as Gershon (Herzl) has always been part of our family history and to know now that indeed much of the family survived is a very emotional experience for us.

It was so great to hear from you. I am so sorry it has taken me all day to reply to you but I have been waiting for a quiet moment in order to collect my thoughts. What has happened today is truly unbelievable and we must thank you for this. Since I can remember, ( I am 44) what happened to the Gershon family has always been in our minds and to now finally be in touch with cousins is staggering. I received today an email from Dina Weinstein - so thank you for forwarding my email to them. To know that the little boy in our photo's, Yevgeniy, who sat next to Gershon is alive and living in Buffalo is beyond imagination. I am going to email them shortly and I will send you a copy of my letter to them.
As for the Fixman's in England - I see from the tree you need all their dates, this will take me a little time but I can you a little about them.
Firstly, Lazer and his sisters arrived in England with their father Leib. Leib died in around 1963 in Manchester. He was a very religious man and my father was very close to him. My hebrew name is Liba and I am named after him so he must have died just before I was born. Aaron Lazerus (Lazer)(my grandfather) died at a young age and had been ill for quite a while prior to his death. The eldest sister in Engalnd was called Bessie. She married but had no children but she was beloved by all the family. Another sister was called Henna who did not marry. She lived with Lazer and my grandmother Ella until she died in the lates 1930's. My father remembers her living with them. The third sister was called Annie who married Eke Poston. They had a son called Bernard (who I mentioned in my previous email). He married and has two children and 3 grandchildren. I remember Annie. The fourth sister was called Millie but I need to speak to Bernard to get more exact information about her. I know her daughter, Sophie still lives in Manchester.
Anyway as I said before I will try and get all the dates for you and also we will scan all our photos onto the computer this week.
My father knows or remembers little of Leib's early life - something perhaps to do with horses which I also saw mentioned on your tree. Also when Leib's wife (Leah) died she wanted to be buried in the village she was born so he took her body back. We believe they came from a town called Aluksne (Marienburg) which is near the Latvian/Estonian border. Now what is interesting is that you know that Sara was born in a town called Daugavpils which I know is the second largest city in Latvia and nearer to Lithuania!. We are so looking hearing from Lena's side of the family. My father and I can't believe that we have found after all this time a first cousin still living who has a direct connection to Gershon.

dear linda,i know that you talked to lana and her family today,how exiting! i hope you will be able to come to new york, i get goose bumps thinking about it. here is what happened during the war:gertzl and olga(golda or dina) died from starvation in leningrad during the seige in the same month of may in 1942. sometime in the fall of the same year my grandmother liza, my grandfather gregory,their two children(rita and irena) and liza`s younger sister roza were evacuated. at first they got on the barge to cross lake of ladoga that was the only life line to leningrad,and was constantly bombarded by germans.them and a hundreds of other people got lucky and survived the crossing.liza`s brother`s wive manya with three children were not as lucky.they were on the barge that left couple of days before them and was sank. they all vanished. after the crossing of the lake my family was put on the train and they traveled in cargo cars for months,and finaly end up in siberia,omsk,on kazakhstan border. you already know story of roza and anatoli. sometime in 1944 liza`s brother yaakov came to siberia after he was severly wounded,to take them all to uzbekistan,where the rest of the family were waiting,that is vera with zenya(lana`s father),then brother isaak who was also badly wounded. as you already know brother boris did not survived,he was killed at the front lines. after the war was over,everybody went back to leningrad. that is some of the story,how they survived in seiged and constantly bombarded lerningrad is a different story.
i am going to put some pictures together of our family present time and send it to you.

I have been so excited to learn from Lana Weinstein about our relatives in UK! In fact, I tried to find someone with the Fiksman or Fixman last name in England and actually have found one number. There was no luck since no one answered the phone.
I wanted to update my genealogical tree from Leib Fixman and give you 100% accurate information.
Leib's daughter/my greatgrandmother Sarra Shustorovich born Fixman was born in 1889, but my grandmother said that her birth records were changed, showing 1888 as her year of birth. Additionally, my grandmother said that her mother was born on June 20 or July 26. I remember her quite well. She spoke Yiddish all her life and did not master Russian; my mother spoke Russian to her and she would reply in Yiddish. Last years she lived in Leningrad; she died while asleep on 29 August 1970 in the summer house (I was there too but was not told what happened) and is buried in Leningrad. I have a picture of her graveside. She was married to Avraham (Abram) Shustorovich (1888-1950) who died in Kuibyshev (Samara). They had nine children, two of whom are now alive: my grandmother Raisa/Khaya, b.1914 and Rosa/Rachel, b.1922, now a resident of Beer Sheba.
My grandmother Khya (in Russia known as Raisa) was born in Dvinsk, now Daugavpils, on 19 August of 1914. Her mother Sarra went from St. Petersburg to Dvinsk to give birth so that Sarra's partents would look after her. Sarra and Avraham Shustorovich were allowed to reside in St. Petersburg despite the pale of resettlement decree that banned most Jews from major cities in Russia. Soon after Khaya's birth Sarra returned to St. Petersburg, which was already renamed Petrograd, to her husband. The first ten years my grandmother spoke only Yiddish and started learning Russian at a public school. In 1933, she married my grandfather Maxim (Motele, Hebrew Mordekhai) Bank (1912-1982), son of Abo Yankel Bank (1864-1932). He was also born in Dvinsk, but most of his life spent in Pertrograd/Leningrad. Their first daughter, my aunt Dina (Hebrew Dveira, Yiddish Dvosya) was born in Leningrad on 4 February 1934. The second daughter, my mother Larisa (Hebrew Lea) was born also in Leningrad on 22 December 1940. My grandmother immigrated to Philadelphia in February 1995; I lived there already and ensured that she would join me.
My mother Larisa was married to my father Mark Yanovitsky (born on October 5, 1931 in Vitebsk Region, Belorussia) in March of 1963. I, Mikhail Yanovitsky (Hebrew Meir ben Mendel) was born on 5 February 1965 in Leningrad. After graduating from Leningrad special music school I entered Moscow Conservatory, which I finished with master's degree in 1990; servied a conscription army service in 1985-87. After graduating in 1990, moved to the United States. My parents moved to Philadelphia in January 1995. Now my mother is teaching piano in Philadelphia, while my father is retired (today he turned 77). I became a doctor of musical arts in 2002 (Temple University, Philadelphia) and that year found a university job in Chicago, where reside nowadays. In April 2007, I married Galina Sakhnovskaya, born in Chisinau on 14 February 1977, whose family has been living in Philadelphia since 1992. Now we are expecting a baby (Op. 1), doctors set the due date for November 29. I have given piano recitals around the world (in London I performed in Swedish church in October 1997). My next big concert is in Madrid in mid-November.

Итак,
1. Сарра Лейбовна Шусторович, урождённая Фиксман, имела 9 детей, из которых по словам моей бабушки Раи (Хаи) Абрамовны Шусторович двое умерли в детстве (одну из них кажется звали Лиза). Про Герша я не знаю ничего, как к сожалению не знаю и остальных имён о которых ты спрашиваешь.
2. Не моя мама, а бабушка Рая/Хая родилась в Двинске/Даугавпилсе 19 августа 1914 года. Туда её мама Сарра поехала к родителям, и через два месяца после рождения моей бабушки вернулась к мужу в Питер. Про Лею мне ничего не известно, но видимо Лейбе уехал в Англию после 1913. Бабушка говорила что Лейбе с семьёй уехали из независимой Латвии где-то в 1919. Дети Лейбе могли уехать раньше, но я в это пока не вникал, вот поговорю с бабушкой и уточню, потом сообщу тебе. Моя мама Лариса (Лея) родилась в Питере 22 декабря 1940.
3. Абрам Шусторович, отец моей бабушки, 1888-1950, умер и похоронен в Куйбышеве/Самаре. Он был очень добрый. К сожалению его сгубило курение. Он курил так много что даже ночью просыпался и курил. Quote from the original source document : Nokhum's son, Herman Shusterovich, was born in Liepaja, Latvia, on Nov. 15, 1881. He was married to Vera Morskaya (b. 26 Jun 1889 in Tobolsk, Siberia). They lived in Harbin, Manchuria on Oct. 17, 1914 (birth of son Ilya) and Apr. 06, 1918 (birth of daughter Cilly - or Lilly?). Later the family settled in Hamburg, where Hermann Schusterowitsch was managing director of a cold-storage depot. Around 1939 the amily fled to England, where they changed their name to Susterovics. Ilya called himself SUSTER. He joined the British Forces and was an interpreter with the AIS. Later, he became managing director of an egg products factory. His son, Gerald Suster (b. 02 Aug 1951 in Hampsread; d. 03 Feb 2001 in London), became teacher and famous or notorious for his propagation of the philiosphy of Aleister Crowley.
